Perimeter Security Specialist.

The opportunity
This exciting role is inside the Perimeter Security Operations, part of the EYTS in Enterprise Technology. In this role Engineer will need to maintain and administer all Perimeter Security services, including key technologies associated with Perimeter and border control across all aspects of the EY environment.

 

Your key responsibilities
In the role of a Perimeter security specialist, you will be responsible for the daily management, administration and maintenance activities in support of protecting EY’s global perimeter security infrastructure environment.
This includes the Firewall, the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) or perimeter networks, Proxy services, VPN, 3rd party services and remote access against internal and external network security threats or unauthorized access intrusions identified via IT staff and end-user incidents raised from the Service Desk.
You will participate as a well-regarded Subject Matter Expert (SME) in projects requiring coordinating implementations involving connectivity with 3rd party service providers, consulting services to various team within the firm and resolving impact on network security, acting in an appropriate manner to determine technical compliance with existing EY standards and configurations. Perform restorative and maintenance actions remotely by using basic through sophisticated technical skills and automations to triage, analyse, respond and remediation for infrastructure issues.


Skills and attributes for success

  • Advanced analytical skills to probe for understanding and address as appropriate both common and more complex infrastructure intrusions and end-user incidents
  • Demonstrate experience in dealing with external vendors and suppliers within the network and security industries
  • Excellent knowledge of perimeter security and border protection technology, environments, management and monitoring tools is essential
  • Working knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) to identify industry standards and procedures for Incident, Problem, Change and Knowledge as required
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt personal communication styles based on your audience
  • To engage as a leader with vision with all levels of the organization, reaming calm under pressure and maintain the credibility of the business

 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Be a Self-starter who can operate without direct supervision on multiple complex issues and tasks in parallel
  • Present sophisticated and difficult messages skilfully, using a variety of media and methods  
  • Produce writings that contains clear and precise language suitable for the target audience
  • Experience with infrastructure implementation/management, service/operations management, etc.
  • Maintains awareness of related new and emerging technologies
  • Technology requirements
    • Check Point Firewall (also Palo Alto/Fortinet Firewalls)
    • AlgoSec Firewall automation platform
    • Zscaler Cloud Security
    • SonicWall/Pulse Secure/Prisma VPN technologies
    • In depth understanding of networking concepts, including IoT, IPv4 and IPv6 and how to deploy and configure in the security product set
    • SD-WAN awareness is an added advantage 
    • Understanding of Cloud technologies, SAML Integrations, Azure AD is an added advantage

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering or Computer Science or a related subject area, plus an industry accreditation or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrable experience in various aspects of Security technology infrastructure design and implementation.
  • Security related Professional qualifications [Check Point CCSE, Blue Coat BCCPA
  • Service management qualifications [ITIL Foundation]
